Department of Neurological Sciences is composed of Neurosurgery, Pediatric Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neuroradiology, Neuroanesthesiology, Psychology and Psychiatry departments. Electroneurophysiology laboratories, CT and MRI units also support the department at our hospitals.  With the application of most adult and pediatric neurosurgical cases, the department has become a center of reference in our country and in Europe.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY IN DIAGNOSIS

• 3 TESLA MR devices, which have been used for whole body imaging for the first time in the world, can create more magnetic field force and obtain more signal from tissues, comparing to previously use 1.5 TESLA MR devices. Therefore, more reliable information would be obtained both preoperatively and preoperatively.
• Recently opened Gamma Knife Center is the golden standard in treatment of brain tumors without surgical intervention. According to the 2005 data, Gamma Knife has been used in treatment of various brain disorders in over 300.000 patients worldwide and the Gamma Knife team at Acibadem is significanly experiences, having treated about 2.500 already.

The primary treatment of epilepsy is medical but in about 30% of cases, patients do not respond to medication. In such patients, surgery is an option. Monthly Spasticity Councils are held where a multi-disciplinary team consisting of pediatric neurosurgeon, pediatric neurologists, orthopedists, speech therapists and rehabilitation specialists, evaluate and plan treatments for spastic children from all around the country.Baclofen Pump Implantations and Selective Dorsal Rizotomies are performed on appropriate patients with promising results
