CAREER

He completed his primary, secondary and high school education respectively in Kuvay-ı Milliye Primary School and Kadıköy Anatolian High School. He entered Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty in 1978 and graduated in 1984. He completed his compulsory service at Muş Central Health Center between 1984 and 1986.

After he started his specialty education at Siyami Ersek Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Center in 1986 and completed in 1991, he was appointed as chief assistant in the same center.

In 1990, he studied Doppler sonography in “Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, Scotland”. Between 1991 and 1992, he worked under the title of “Asistant Chef de Clinique“ in “Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis, Amsterdam, Netherlands“ cardiac surgery center.

He was awarded with associate professor’s degree in 1997. In 1998, he was appointed as Clinic Chief at Siyami Ersek Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Center.

He founded the department of cardiovascular surgery at Acibadem Kadıköy hospital in 1999 and at Acibadem Maslak hospital in 2009. He is currently working as the Department Director of Acibadem Maslak Hospital Cardiovascular Surgery. He carried out approximately 10.000 open heart surgeries until today.

From 2004 until today, he has been carrying out endovascular surgical operations and is one of the surgeons who have achieved such number of operations in this area in Turkey.

From 2009 until today, he has been applying robotic cardiac surgery successfully and has signed some firsts in this area in Turkey.

From 2009 until today, he has been carrying out minimal invasive cardiac surgery and transcatheter valve operations.

He was a member of the board of Turkish Cardiovascular Surgery Association and an arbitrator and editor in Turkish Cardiovascular Surgery Review. He is currently acting as arbitrator in international reviews.
