Quality
Our dedication to quality extends beyond accreditation but is ingrained in our daily operations and practices.
Unconditional leadership support and commitments of necessary resources; coupled with our centralized Medical Standardization and Quality Department ensures that all of our hospitals and outpatient clinics offer the highest quality medical and surgical care to all patients. The Medical Standardization and Quality Department at Acıbadem is staffed with over 20 clinical quality specialists with medical and nursing backgrounds, as well as administrative quality experts who are highly instrumental in process design and re-design efforts.
The main components of our quality approach consist of the following main components: Our commitment to quality has been repeatedly recognized by Joint Commission International (JCI), a U.S. based, independent and globally accepted accreditation scheme that develops and uses objective measurement tools to assess and facilitate improvement of quality of services and safety of patients in healthcare organizations. JCI is the sister organization of The Joint Commission (formerly known as JCAHO), which certifies close to 20,000 healthcare institutions and programs in the US, and JCI has accredited close to 400 organizations in over 40 countries since 1999. Accreditation by JCI is completely voluntary and based on a comprehensive, pre-determined, international set of healthcare-specific standards. “Accredited” is a status normally granted for 3 years and upon expiration the institution can re-apply and be re-surveyed and re-accredited.
Acıbadem Hospitals Group has undergone and successfully completed accreditation and re-accreditation surveys in 2005 (Kadıköy, Bakırköy, Kozyatağı Hospitals and Bağdat, Etiler and Soyak Medical Centers), 2008 (Kadıköy, Bakırköy, Kozyatağı, Kocaeli, Bursa and International Hospitals and Bağdat, Etiler, Beylikdüzü, Göktürk and International Etiler Medical Centers), 2010 (Maslak and Adana Hospitals) and 2011 (Kadıköy, Bakırköy, Kozyatağı and International Hospitals). As Acıbadem’s network expands, new hospitals are organized and new staff are trained based on JCI standards from day one, and these new facilities are planned to undergo accreditation surveys in due time.
Among the many benefits of JCI accreditation the following can be noted:
- To establish trust in public in the organization with regards to its commitment to quality and patient safety
- To further involve patient and the family in decisions and care processes
- To foster an organizational culture that is honest and open to improvement
- To cultivate an organization environment where employees feel safe, comfortable and motivated
- To strengthen leadership’s aspirations to perfection in terms of quality and patient safety
- To better understand how clinical processes and outcomes can continuously and consistently improve
In addition to JCI accreditation, Acıbadem Labmed, which is a joint venture with Germany’s leading Dortmund GmbH, has attained the ISO 15189 clinical laboratory accreditation and has become a reference laboratory in the region.
Acıbadem’s extensive experience in quality has rendered it a highly sought after quality consultant in the region, and we are engaged in numerous projects advising and assisting public and private institutions in Turkey and abroad in quality assuring and JCI accreditation.
