The Linear Accelerator (LINAC) is comprised of three separate radiotherapy modalities: IGRT, IMRT and SRT/SRS. It is used for diagnosis and treatment and offers patients significant advantages. IGRT is used for the application of image-guided radiotherapy. IMRT is used to administer intensity-modulated radiation, which allows for the adjustment of the intensity of the radiation that is applied to the areas receiving treatment so that ideal doses can be attained. While the tumor is exposed to high doses of radiation, healthy tissue is protected as much as possible. SRT/SRS technology is used to apply pinpoint radiotherapy.
