Professor M. Necmettin Pamir, one of the leading neurosurgeons of the world, as well as the founding president of Acıbadem University and head of the Department of Neurosurgery in the Faculty of Medicine of the same, once again became a source of pride for Turkey. Professor Pamir is now the first Turkish neurosurgeon to be elected as the president of the World Academy of Neurological Surgery, the highest authority on neurosurgery in the world.
World Academy of Neurological Surgery (WANS), of which the members are the leading neurosurgeons of the world, is recognized as a distinguished institution at which universal neurosurgery training is given and neurosurgical policies are determined. Professor M. Necmettin Pamir, who played a role in the foundation of the institution and served as the former secretary general of it, is the first Turkish neurosurgeon to be elected as the president of the academy. Professor Pamir remarked that his acquisition of this new position was a pleasant development in the name of neurosurgery in Turkey. Serving as the head of the Department of Neurosurgery in the Faculty of Medicine of Acıbadem University, as well as a neurosurgery specialist at Acıbadem Maslak Hospital, Professor M. Necmettin Pamir was also recently granted a Gold Medal by Academia Eurasiana Neurochirurgica for his outstanding service and contributions in the field of neurosurgery.

Professor M. Necmettin Pamir crowned his successful contributions to the development of neurosurgery throughout the world with his new position. Professor Pamir, who stated that he was very happy to be the first Turkish president of the World Academy of Neurological Surgery and said, “This is a great honor for me. I am elated and exalted”.

Professor M. Necmettin Pamir, who advises young people to work hard, be keen and make contributions to universal knowledge, states that he himself feels nurtured by hard work and owes his success to working industriously, and says, “There is nothing else to it but working hard. Work hard and success will find you”.
Who is Necmettin Pamir?
As the former president of the Turkish Neurosurgical Society and a member of the American, German and World Academies of Neurological Surgery, as well as 17 additional national and international associations, Professor M. Necmettin Pamir has many articles, of which over 200 were published in international journals while more than 100 were published in national ones. Professor Pamir, who attended 175 international, 385 national congresses and 35 international, 57 national conferences, also worked at the American Academy of Neurological Surgery, where he served among the most superior neurosurgeons of the world. Being born in 1953 and becoming only second to Professor Gazi Yaşargil as one of the first Turkish neurosurgeons to be admitted to the American Academy of Neurological Surgery, Pamir was also the winner of the 5th Gold Medal given in 1984 by Academia Eurasiana Neurochirurgica, one of the most select academic neurosurgery societies of the world with over 50 active members in both Europe and Asia and an institution at which Pamir himself served as secretary general and president for a period.
