By the end of this course the participant will be able to: create and sustain a patient safety environment that focuses on patient centered care, apply evidence based practices to develop and support effective multidisciplinary teams working in partnership with patients and their families to improve patient safety outcomes, use a system based approach to identify and mitigate defects, develop patient safety initiatives for real and lasting change, act as change agents in their work place as they lead efforts to continuously learn from defects and improve patient safety and quality of care and gain the ability to disseminate patient safety principles and programs throughout organizations.

Program activities combine site visits, trainings about JCI accreditation, in-person lectures, and group activities like case studies and simulations. The participants work in patient safety teams and get the opportunity to observe real-time operation.
